Always Near to Thee

When all is dark, you may not see
A mysterious stranger looking at thee.
When you blink, for a moment in time
His eyes shine and glow at the same time.
There, you just missed it, you thought something was there
Was it the light flickering back on or was someone there?
You turn your back to it while a warming sensation
Insists on disturbing your peaceful meditation.
There's someone watching you out of the darkness
He's there behind you, sensing your uncalmness.
You close your eyes as the warmth gets intense
And you feel soft fur around you, very dense.
"Shhhh", you hear, as whiskers tickle your ear,
Then you go off to sleep, never to fear.
In your Gruberdreams, he'll always be near.
